About Me

My husband and I got pregnant with our first child, what an emotional rollercoaster as I’m sure it is for many first time parents. Even more so because I had no emotional support whatsoever apart from my husband who is like most partners- a nervous wreck until baby actually arrives! I was born and Raised in South Africa and have no family of my own here in the US.

I always knew I wanted to work with Newborn babies. I initially wanted to become a midwife then just ended up being a newborn nanny and mother’s helper, leading to a night nurse and newborn sleep trainer and when I was pregnant- discovering the special gift of a Doula- I immediately knew this is what I wanted to do next! I personally yearned for some real support from a woman during my pregnancy and birth. I truly just wanted the support of a woman but I didn’t really have any, another inspiration of my doula career- being there and holding space for others during such a magical, sacred time in their lives.

I see pregnancy, birth, and the growth of a family as one of the most inspiring things about humanity.  As a Doula, I feel honored to help families experience a positive and healthy birth.

I ended up with a cesarean section which was even more emotional.
It did although, help me realize that everyone has their own special journey. Life can be challenging at times and this is why I want to be there, assisting families through their unique journeys. Whether it be a VBAC, cesarean birth, non-medicated, or planned epidural. However your labor/birth happens, I’d love to be a part of it!

In 2021 I got to have my VBAC! Oh how empowering it felt- after months of all sorts of medical bullying, that I had all this experience and education to firmly stand my grounds “against medical advice” of a repeat c section at 33 weeks. I went on to have a vaginal breech birth at home at 41w5d! So, imagine i wasn’t educated, i would have rushed off to the hospital to have a c section at 33 weeks and who knows what that would have looked like for me and my family. Unfortunately, advocacy has become a necessity for pregnant/laboring/birthing people. We see doctors as authority figures and most times take what they say and just believe it. Sometimes, they don’t have YOUR best interests at heart and that is another reason I yearn to support families; so they can look back on their birth experience and feel elated about it. Although the events of the actual birth are out of my control, I want to make sure families feel secure, heard, and comfortable during their birthing time. So they can feel more connected during the process of bringing new life into this world. The privilege of being able to share in the beauty and magic of bringing humans into this world speaks for itself.
